Pretty epic day for me personally as well as the organization. We have finished ripping out 35 years of historic wiring that kept WCQS then BPR News and BPR Classic on the air. This process took more than two years to complete. In our new studio systems we did not reuse a single existing wire in the building. It is a rare opportunity given to us to fully rebuild a radio station from scratch and fully replace everything. In our organization alone this is the first and only opportunity this organization has had in 35 years to do this. I routinely talk to colleagues that are several decades into their careers and have never had this opportunity. There is some truth to the meditation picture, a huge amount of work, stress, anxiety behind me and our organization. I cannot thank our supporters enough to have given us this amazing opportunity.
It took two truck loads in a volunteer’s truck to deliver the wire to Biltmore Metal which totaled 687 pounds and added $480.90 to our budget. More than we expected and, as you know, at BPR every dollar makes a difference!
